Houndstongue
Houndstongue is a biennial plant that is native to Europe and was likely introduced through contaminated grain seed. This plant contains toxic alkaloids that can poison and kill livestock and horses that ingest it.
During it's first year, Houndstongue is a rosette that has fuzzy, tongue shaped leaves. In the second year, the plant bolts and produces pink flowers. The bur-like seeds are small and easily cling to animals and clothing, facilitating the spread of this plant. |
